Objective
Encourage instructional designers to confidently create and showcase a professional portfolio that highlights their skills and expertise. This learning experience team at Optum was moving to a new part of the business and leaders wanted IDs to feel confident in their skills, ready to share with new administration, and also increase psychological safety and prepare designers for any potential future reductions in force.
Delivery and Contents
This training was delivered through an eLearning course embedded in the enterprise’s learning management system, Cornerstone, where completions and performance were tracked.
The training includes modules on what makes a portfolio effective, how to showcase your work and impact, confidentiality recommendations to keep in mind, and additional resources for things like hosting platforms and sharing with an outside audience.
Data and Impact
100% of instructional designers on the learning experience team completed this training.
Post-training assessment scores had an average score of 95%.
Employee feedback: 100% of employees rated this course as “very helpful” or “helpful”.
In 1:1 conversations, 5 instructional designers reported that this activity made them feel like their leaders cared about them personally and professionally, an area measured in the employee experience survey.
